Hopper Pots

A year 9 specialist ceramic class have recently completed their Edward Hopper inspired coil pots. Their theme also had to involve hoppers representation of buildings in some way. It is great to see such authentic representations.

3D Printed Pens

A year 8 CAD group recently finished a unit of work based on the theme of ‘pen design’. They each created unique designs, that were either decorative or practical. Some students created pens that encorporated their names or represented their favourite past-time. They also learnt about how to make interlocking screw joins so as they could have interchangeable parts.

Repurpose

In semester 1 a class of year 11 Design students were given the challenge of repurposing a used everyday household object through the addition of a 3D printed part. This task enabled students to think laterally  and solve a problem in a new and unique way. The types of containers students brought in included: milo tins, baked bean cans, jam jars and even water bottles. These objects were then transformed into items including: a do-it-yourself ship in a bottle, a snow globe, a marble drop game and even a martini shaker. What a fantastic way to see ideas come to life through the use of our 3D printers.

Stage 1 Poster Design

Mountain Print

A class of year 8’s recently completed their printmaking assignment exploring the process of lino reduction printing. They were given the task of representing highlight, mid-tone using only black, colour and white.

3D Printed Dice

Recently, a class of year 9’s have learnt about 3d printing with the use of the program 3ds Max. Students had the task of creating a dice that was authentic and expressed each side in a new way.

Lyric Prints

As part of the year 8 specialist 2D semester, they explore a range of art methods such as printmaking. This group explored reduction lino printing with the theme of song lyrics. They learnt about creating an emboss, then printing with a colour and finally adding the ‘key’, which is the black. Reducing their prints was a difficult method and also lining these up when printing was problematic. What refined prints these students have created with such complex imagery.
