Portraiture

Recently a class of year 9’s have completed a painting and drawing unit with the genre of portraiture. They created these paintings using a restricted colour palette, using only 3 colours and black and white. They learnt about tonal differences in mixing colours as well as achieving cool and warm tones. The students showed a strong enjoyment and motivation when creating these artworks. The paintings are currently on display in our front admin building.

Home Compass

Year 9 ceramic students have recently completed these compass sculptures as part of their introduction to the course. They used slab building and hollow form techniques to create their shape and then used an engraving and wiping back method of applying the glaze. Their compass sculptures were based on their own suburb.

Art VS Daily Life

This term, students in year 9 Multimedia have been exploring how Adobe Photoshop can be used to manipulate imagery. Students researched an artist who combines classical paintings within not so idyllic contemporary life. They investigated classical painters and combined figures from their paintings within everyday life in Adelaide. Images ranged from angels buying flowers in Rundle mall to kings and queens waiting to catch a tram.
