Repurpose

In semester 1 a class of year 11 Design students were given the challenge of repurposing a used everyday household object through the addition of a 3D printed part. This task enabled students to think laterally  and solve a problem in a new and unique way. The types of containers students brought in included: milo tins, baked bean cans, jam jars and even water bottles. These objects were then transformed into items including: a do-it-yourself ship in a bottle, a snow globe, a marble drop game and even a martini shaker. What a fantastic way to see ideas come to life through the use of our 3D printers.

Things are not What They Seem

For the last few weeks the year 9 Digital Media students have been exploring the many ways in Adobe Photoshop to manipulate their imagery. They had the task of creating a poster advert for an existing product, however they were asked to manipulate this image to allude to the taste/feel/idea of the product on sale. Some students came up with creative ways to meld two items together for example a coffee which when sliced in half reveals a fig. This task was not only difficult and required higher order thinking, but also students became much more confident in using the software. Adrian,Caprile
