Troubled Histories

During term 1 this year, a group of year 8 Art students attended the Adelaide Biennial ‘Dark Heart’ at the South Australian Art Gallery. Students were inspired by the Rorschach painting by Ben Quilty that depicted a massacre that occurred in Tasmania. Students created their own Rorschach paintings based on landscapes where massacres in Australia happened. The selection of massacres included; Convincing Ground, Waterloo Creek, Queen Street, Eureka Stockade etc.

Students created a wide selection of paintings that are beautiful portrayals of places that have such sinister pasts.
