The Journey of the Bower Bird

This semester 2 groups of year 8 Art students have been very energetic in designing and creating totems to be displayed in front of the St Mary’s Unit. These students had the theme of ‘the journey of a Bower Bird’ and worked in conjunction with students from the St Mary’s Unit to create imaginative stories to illustrate through their ceramic Totem poles. Each totem pole is read as a linear story and the Art students are currently designing 6 interactive digital flip books which will be available through the school’s e-library as well as printed hard copy for the St Mary’s unit and middle school library. All students involved in this art project have been very enthusiastic and it is exciting to have their work on permanent display in the school grounds. The installation of the sculptures will be occurring in the next coming weeks.
