The year 6 students have been very busy today creating still life artworks based on found natural flora from around the school grounds. Students learnt about different techniques with painting with inks and also calligraphy pens. There was a hive of activity during the lesson with students all busy using techniques such as: wet on wet, wet on dry, and straw blowing. This exercise is just another example of ancouraging Art students to ‘learn to see’ in ways that are exciting. Last week students ate oranges/pears/apples and drew ‘deconstructed’ versions of their piece of fruit using watercolour and felt tip pen. The flowers will be displayed in the middle school library as an installation artwork.
