Last term the year 6 Art students had created their own interpretation of “The Little Old Lady That Swallowed a Fly” story using ceramics. They created vessels that were stackable within each other like Matryoshka Dolls and depicted sometimes weird and fabulous ideas that played on the storyline. For example, “The Little Old Bear Grylls That Swallowed a Mosquito” or even “The Little Old Cat That Swallowed a Bird”. Students used basic pinch pot and coil pot ceramic building techniques, gallery structures, and had to use their critical skills about sizes of their vessels to fit compfortably within each other. All students showed a keen passion for learning and showed strengths in enthusiasm and positive thinking.
